A Thank You to the Unsung Heroes of Healthcare
Every year, May 12 is celebrated as Nurses’ Day around the world and in our country. This date marks the birthday of Florence Nightingale, regarded as the founder of modern nursing. But today is not only a commemoration; it is a day to remember hard work, sacrifice, and professional honor. Because at the heart of the healthcare system are nurses.
Why Is Nursing So Critical?
Nursing is not only about administering medication or measuring blood pressure. A nurse is the person who:
- Observes the patient,
- Detects risks early,
- Monitors the course of treatment,
- Informs the family,
- Stays calm in times of crisis.
In hospitals, home care services, intensive care units, operating rooms, and in the field… nurses are the essential force that sustains healthcare.
The Role of Nurses in Home Healthcare
Especially for patients with chronic illnesses, older adults, or those in the post-operative period, nursing support is vital. In the home setting, a nurse:
- Monitors vital signs
- Manages medication schedules
- Provides wound care
- Educates the family
- Reduces the risk of complications
With this follow-up, hospital admissions can decrease and the treatment process can move forward more safely.
Nursing: Where Knowledge, Patience, and Conscience Meet
Nursing requires scientific knowledge. But it also demands patience, empathy, and strong communication skills. A nurse manages not only the patient’s treatment, but also their fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. Especially in home care, the nurse represents a sense of trust for the family.
Our Perspective on Nurses at Bir Adım Sağlık
At Bir Adım Sağlık, we believe nursing is not merely a duty, but a profession of honor. Every member of our team provides care with an approach that is:

Because a strong healthcare system is only possible with strong nurses.
Nurses’ Day is not only a celebration; it is a thank you.
To all nurses who turn night into day, remain composed in difficult moments, and stand by us in our most vulnerable times… thank you.
